Comfort food, I think of so many things when I hear comfort food that I might make this a series. How do we define comfort food? I say its any food that creates an increase in emotional/psychological well-being. For neurodivergent people, comfort foods can also be what's called "safe foods" which are foods that commonly meet sensory expectations repeatedly. Food is also a connection to family and culture. So to some, eating a meal can create a sense of home or alleviate some grief from separation from home/family. Absence of negative stimulation can also provide a sense of comfort. A food can be paired to a sort of eye in the storm for those who had adverse childhood experiences.
